It's a Triumph Dolomite. I will be rebuilding the engine a month or two before the 'Ring and plan on getting a few trackdays done before we leave. >_<

Oh I know the above pictures make it look like the car gets a hard time, and that's kind of true, but then I do all my own work on it so I'm sure it's enjoying everything I give it! :withstupid:

Very nice!! What sort of spec is it?

I love Dolomites, my dad had a Dolomite 1500 (I think?), registration BRB 817T - I still remember it today but it must be 15 years since it was scrapped!

Anyway, it was bright red, and had a wooden effect dash, with a little light that told you if the front seatbelts were being worn or not, pretty futuristic back in 1979!

I remember the front end was rotten in front of the bonnet and above the headlights, so it was held together with lots of black duct tape and filler, it must have gone through at least two MOT's like that!

In the end the big ends went, so we just drove it to the scrappers, Was a good car though >_<

Have fun at the 'Ring!!

You're all too kind >_<

It's got a bit of a muddled past. That particular shell started life in 1974 as Dolomite 1850. HCY 28W was a 1981 Dolomite 1500 that was writen off in the 90's sometime. Thats when the two became one! I bought it as a Dolomite 1500 in April last year. 55 miles in to my journey home it started rumbling and the oil light was on at idle, bottom end... Prone to failure on the 1500 engine Tom :withstupid: I fitted a TR7 engine to it then, a 2 litre 8 valve, made the car go quite well.

In about July I bought a very rusty Sprint for its running gear and now that's what lives in mine. 2 litre, 16 valve, 4 speed O/D gear box (6 gears basically) and it goes incredibly well. Was rolling roaded at 130hp and 128ft/lb in November. Quickest timed 0-60 (with G-tech performance meter) is 7.8 seconds :dontgetit:

These car's are incredibly under rated and as such go for cheap. Picked mine up for £450 and have spent similar money on Poly bushes, lowering shocks, the running gear etc.

Loving the roof rack!

My other car is that heap in the background of the top picture. My cheap daily drive, now it looks like I've got someone to drive that to the Ring so I don't need a trailor for all our stuff! >_<

Surely its retro enough? Despite being a 1990 its shape dates back to the dizzy early 80's with its square lines and complete lack of imagination when being designed!

Thanks for the compliments on the rack >_< It went round the ring with the rack last year, and did the 1/4 mile at santa pod at Mini In The park last year too with camping gear and rack.

Now if only the engine would be as simple as styling lol
