Hi,

Is this an injection fuel tank? If so (and I think it is), is it an SPi or MPi tank? I think it's SPi but need to make sure.

If it is SPi is it the same as the MPi one but with a different sender unit & pump, I.E. could I just straight swap the sender unit / pump for an MPi one and hey presto: I have an MPi tank?

Ta muchly,

Nick

It is an injection tank. AFAIK the only difference between the two injection tanks is that the pump itself has a higher operating pressure.

Moved to the injection section.

That is a late cab tank with the evaperative emissions blead valve. There is no fuel pump in this tank. Its pretty much a standard tank. :D

The Spi pump and Mpi pumps are different, but the tank and sender units are identical, there is no real way of determining the difference other than the length of the filler neck, but even then Rover used both lengths for some reason. I think the carb tank still used the original sender units. The SPi MPi sender units are different, they have a bend in the float arm to clear the fuel pump.

Definitely a carb tank that one, the injection tanks have a bloody great hole in the top of them where the fuel pump fits! As Sprocket says, thats just the emissions valve on top of the tank.

Sprocket, the fuel sender, do you know if are they still available NOS or repro? I'm currently using a carb sender in my SPi tank with a Bosch pump, and I've bent it appropriately to clear the pump, but I'm still not 100% happy with it...

:shy:  :- :(

They're right you know.

All fuel senders are still available new Tom. Injection ones are about £25.00.

Hi, I'm just new to this forum and came accross this topic, talking about fuel tanks etc I have a 1993 Mini Sprite which I put the complete walnut dash in from an M.P.I. but find the fuel gauge reads incorrectly (low).
Am I right in saying that the Sprite tank sender although looks the same base as the M.P.I. is a different resistance therefore electrically wrong?
I don't mind buying an M.P.I. sender although having a bent arm to miss the in tank pump of the M.P.I. shouldn't cause a problem I feel.
Just don't want to waste my money if it is the same electrically.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
