Basically I’m thinking of buying this mini cooper buts it’s got a few problems.

The rear sub frame needs replacing to get it through the MOT which I can afford.

It also has rust on the bottom of the doors. The thing is if this will fail the mot it means I need to spend out more money which could make the car slightly overpriced.

I just wondered if I’d need a new door or whether I could replace just the skins. Obviously this means a massive price difference and could be the deciding factor on whether to buy the car or not

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Holes in the door bottoms will not fail the MOT providing you tape over the sharp edges

try

Provided the doors are not so rotten that they fall apart/burst open when given a good pull they won't fail the MOT since they aren't structural, they just need to be secure.

Oh right. Cheers for the help its much appreciated.

I managed to get in touch with a mini enthusiast who runs a garage by me and he advised me to steer clear. He said it’s not worth the risk as it doesn’t have an Mot and if more problems were noticed when changing the sub frames it could hit me quite hard financially.

Thanks again for the advice, it's great that people are willing to help especially a stranger lol

The great mini hunt continues :P
