I am lookin at a electronic ignition system from aldon and there is two types available for the Lucas 45D4. Self Wiping or Fixed. What is the difference between each one? They are both the same price was wondering if i needed a specific one.

Thanks

There are two different Lucas 45D4 distributors, one with self wiping contacts and one with fixed heel contacts. You need to buy the right electronic ignition for the distributor you have. Look inside the dizzy, the self wiping contact has the heel of the points connected to a plastic fork which turns with the baseplate and moves the points side to side. The self wiping set also normally has a blue heel whereas the fixed one is red.
