Waited age's for UPS to be online as my parcel company and the first thing I send with them, a Carbon Fibre Bonnet Showing Weave, and they bloody break it!!!!!!!

Tissue paper (for the gel coat), lots of bubble wrap with double on the edges and corners and then 2 layers of card board with stickers saying "FRAGILE" and "HANDLE WITH CARE" and still they break it. GGGRRRRRRRRRRR

Do they think its a frisbee?????
Do they read the stickers and think - "I know, lets throw it around or put heavy things on it"

On the bright side, the customer thinks it fantastic apart from where its broken :P

Anyone got a (very) cheap Volvo estate (or any estate/van) going???

P###ed off with UPS :P

We have trouble with TNT who we use as our couriers for work, they arent much better Im afraid!

We send out rolls of window film which, while pretty much unbreakable, do still take a right battering from the couriers! :P

Once, one of the ladies who works here used them to pick up a flat packed kitchen and it came back with ever sngle unit broken or cracked! It was packed as well as it could have been yet the couriers tried blaming the fact they were broken on the packing. They then used the excuse that they were a weird shape (flat) and that they can only just cope with our rolls of window film!!

They are a couriers, that is their job, why cant they deal with any shaped boxes, objects or whatever you want to send with them?!

Like Jordie said though, you should be able to claim on your insurance (if you have it) and get back the cost of the bonnet. Dont really know what else to suggest as it sounds as though it was packaged the best it could be, do you have a flat box big enough?!

Yeah, parcel insured, its one of the things with UPS, that and the tracking thingy on their website.

Have contacted lots of companys about the best way of packing things and local company said do it that way. Looked into getting box's made but they wanted £5,000 for start up :P

Hence the need for a estate/van so I can drive it to people or do shady deals (again) at Motorway service stations

I know your parcels are probably too big for them Smudger, but I really don't know why more people don't use Royal Mail Special Delivery. I have sent about 600 (yes, really) parcels through Special Delivery for work in the last month, and not one has gone missing, been damaged or even been late. And they are always insured for a minimum of £500, with more insurance available for a couple of quid, and they are a shedload cheaper than couriers. Today I had to ship a load of stuff to Glasgow (12Kg). Courier wanted £420.00. Special Delivery price: £37.00. Guaranteed by 1pm, insured, on line tracking, proof of delivery. Bargain.

i work for TNT and if you value your packages DONT USE THEM they have no respect for parcels and the more you put fragile on them the more some of the workers tend to think it is funny to damage your goods. THERE ARE SOME GENUINE PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE (like myselfe who want there items to be treated like gold) but they are some idiots who couldnt give a monkeys.

For God's sake DO NOT USE BUSINESS POST either!

I bought a £400 guitar, waited about 2 and a half weeks for delivery, then one day I'm walking home from the train station and find a Flurking guitar shaped box with "Fender" written on it lying on my bloody drive in broad daylight!

If some pikey nicked it I wouldn't be best pleased!

I have tried Royal Mail with bonnets before, they broke em as well.

I can send bootlids with no problems with ParcelVan who do a ok job for nextday delivery at £10.

Just sent an email to a company to see if they can sort me out with some box's and even more bubble wrap, Nomapack protective profiles (re-usable foam protection for corners and edges) and maybe corrugated paper rolls as well!

So, anyone out their who makes box's????

Cheers

I myself hate delivery companies except UPS and DHL (the latter having lost a package once, an important one but did pay out the $500 dollar insurance without any questions asked).

Guess UPS isn't that good either..

Problem round here when ordering from abroad is that even if there are notices on the box the chances of the locals reading, let alone understanding the english writing is hardly assuring!

I don't know about the UK but it is probably the same as overhere, there are courier company's out there that only do car parts. We have PartsExpress overhere, I worked for a average sized car parts suplier and we used them a lot. They know how to handle the different parts like bonnet and boots. They were a little bit more expensive (not much) than UPS though but the service and the fact that they know how to handle car parts was great. Hope that helps a little bit.
