what is the correct engine oil sight reading.. is it
1:) engine cold . look at sight, have it on F (full)
2:) engine warm . switch of , look at sight, should be on Full
3:) engine RUNNING but cold , look at sight with it running, on full
4:) engine RUNNING and WARM . look at sight with it running , on full
5:) engine at normal operation temp, SWITHC ENGINE OFF and then look at sight ?
6:) run enine from cold for 20secs switch it OFF then look at the sight?
on mine at the moment i have a large oil cooler so i need to get it right, when i switch my engine on the oil disipears out the oil sight Very quickly ?
should there always be oil in the sight when its running, scares the "PARP" out of me,

I always fill it after an oil change to the full level, run the engine for a while then put more in so it is at full when running just so it doesnt suffer oil surge.
Ditto - I am fortunate to have a very experienced bike and bike enginged car tuner locally, he recommended exactly as above. If you're "parping it" you can get baffle plates on ebay for £60ish. really easy to fit too!

Well I thought it was check when cold myself, BUT ! I've just checked with my mate that works for a Suzuki dealership as a mechanic and he says run for a few mins, switch off, leave a couple more mins, then check.

That applies for a bike but in a car which doesnt lean like a bike you need to run a tad more oil, you will find it is only about a pint so it doesnt do much harm.

Yeh thats right..Chris has a small expantion tank were the crank case breather sits, I guess to stop it shoving the extra oil out at high revs.

That was the 1500 hayabusa you were looking at, It needs that to cope with the extra windage the long stroke crank creates!!
