Yesterday when I was removing the engine stabilizer from my 1974 mini (998), I broke the bolt which fits the stabilizer bar to the engine. Now a part of the bolt is stuck inside the engine block, so as a temporary solution I welded a metal bar to the stabilizer bar at the engine side and drilled a hole to connect it to the next hole at the engine.

I think it’s not possible to get the bolt out of the engine without taking the engine out.

So now the stabilizer bar is fitted with only one side with bushes, other is fitted rigidly to the engine block.

My question:-Is it bad for the engine and the body if I run with this welded stabilizer bar for a longer period.

you will get more vibration, you should be ok untioll you want to take the engine out! although the vibrations might faticgue the weld or the material around it, so id keep an eye on it untill you can get the engine out

i did same thing. I got a bracket thingy which bolts into top of clutch housing then u bolt a new bolt thru that. Works fine.

Fit an 'ultimate' just incase, because when mine broke i broke the carb and bent manifold studs on bulkhead.
