I'm wanting to add GAZ shocks to my mini along with Hi-Lo's so that I can achieve an adjustable ride height to accomodate 13"x7" starmags or ultralites. The only thing is that there are 2 types of Gaz shocks - standard and lowered.
I'm wanting the car to be lowered, but will the lowered shocks be too low to fit the 13's under the arches? I would remove the old suspension and measure the distance of where the old shocks were to see. The only trouble is that the car is a daily runner and this is going to hopefully be a weekend job :gasp:
The cars a Mayfair '87 if this helps
Also where's the best place to get these? and what other fittings will I need (brackets etc.)
Please help.
Cheers,

if you lower the car by max 3/4 of an inch you can retain standard height dampers. if you go beyond, you should take the shorter dampers, otherwise your damper mounting points will fail with the time...

you can't lower it much if you want to put on 13s

i voted lowerd but depends, if your running 13's then the body roll it qwite a lot so needs lowering and also you get big gaps between the wheen and the top of the arch in the rear arch. but if its on 12's then i would keep it the same or maybe a little of

In my opinion GAZ are excellent shocks. If your going to get a new set, get the lowered ones as they are the same price and it will make sure you never have any problems with shocks bottoming out in the future. I had lowered height on mine and they were fine with 13's. You should be able to get the car down by a good 2" with 13's on too.

bluemini...
i'm not quite sure but i think if you lower 2" with 13"s on you'll foul the wheelarches, don't you?

I run gaz lowered shocks with high lows all round - they're ace!!!
My cars fairly low (i run 13's)- the only problem being that i have to avoid speed humps or go accross them at an angle to avoid it rubbing on the exhaust or on the bottom of the car
