Replaced cylinders, converted front to discs etc.

Went to bleed em up and i only get fluid at one side of rear. I dunno if this was case before as i never bled em.

Its a 1980 City, with single brake line going to back from compensator on bulkhead. I get fluid at nearside rear, all fine and dandy. The offside rear, i can completely remove the bleed nipple and nothing. Any ideas?

I am using an Ezibleed kit if that makes any difference.

As a first test, make sure the bleed nipple isn't full of crud and/or corrosion. This may involve removing the nipple completely and running a copper wire through to clean the holes.

Does the City have a proportioning valve on the rear subframe? Follow the single line from the front bulkhead back to the rear subframe and look for a casting about 1/2 the size of your fist where the single line comes in and exits as two lines to each rear wheel. If you have a proportioning valve it could be that the EZ Bleed is causing the spool in the proportioning valve to shuttle closed when you're trying to bleed the offside wheel. If the needle isn't blocked and if the problem IS the proportioning valve, go back to the two-person bleed method using VERY slow and gentle pressing of the brake pedal during bleeding.

jordie to you have the tandem brake master cylinder?

if so you have to bleed the master cylinder first, the top pipe needs to be undone at the master cylinder until fluid flows out, (have a rag handy to catch the fluid) then bleed the rest of th car, may sound strange to do it this way.

this info i got from sommerford spares when i was having the same trouble trying to bleed mine the first time..

thanks, will try that.

I could never get a solid pedal with drums, no matter how much bleedin and adjustment.

I put new shoes on rear, new cylinders, spacered drums.
8.4" Disc setup up front
replaced compensator because old one leaked.

So i hope i dont have to change anything else now...

if you dont bleed the top of the master cylinder you wont have hard brakes, now out into the sunshine and do it
