Ok, been working on the engine today and finally everything is running sweetly apart from the fact engine is idling at about 1500 rpm.

I guess this could be aleak in the inlet manifold? Whats the easiest way for testing this?

Also what else could it be?

Don't they have an air bypass valve to control the idle - it could be that. MPI or SPI? - might help if someone who knows what they're talking about sees this

Have you indexed the throttle to set the stepper at 20 steps with the ignition on and engine off then adjusted the throttle cable to sort the lost motion gap?....

Just a thought...

Ah okay. I didn't think there was much to clean but I thought you never know, might be something to learn here.

I've been looking in all my connectors. They're dry, maybe a bit of dust, nothing else to see. I think you guys get a lot more muck and dirt in your engine bays than we do because of your climate.

Except for the last two weeks, we're pretty dry all year round here, especially in the last four years as we've been having a drought. All that has changed in the last two weeks. We've had a LOT of rain and there's even been major flooding.

well over here they put salt on the roads in winter to stop them icing up, great idea but doent do the minis panelwork any favours, the roads are always filthy, i have a black mini, and with the amount of salt on the roads its almost white!

Just to say, MPIs are usually programmed to initially run at 1500 or there abouts with the autochoke - warms the engine up, then it'll drop to the 800rpm idle.
