Why do they bother to measure or calculate bhp at the flywheel anyway?! It seems stupid to me to ignore the 'box and wheels?! I mean its not like your ever going to run the engine without the 'box or wheels?

True, but what if you would like to know the loss in your drivetrain. As in what if use a straight cut gearbox versus a helical as discussed in another thread. I would sure like to know what kind of loss I have, so I might be able to reduce it.
