Matt
No idea about acid dipping but shot blasting worked for me. Just looked in Yellow pages and got them to leave the good paintwork intact.

As far as i'm aware the only place for the acid dipping is in the Birmingham area. I'm sure someone told me that it was the only place to get it done. I can't remember the name though.

My mate had his VW split screen van done there and was not impressed with what he calls mickey mouse amateurish attitude to peoples pride and joys. His van has now gone to the panel beater before the paint shop as it was damaged whilst there front and rear.

They claim to damage 1 in 20 vehicles.

You are probably better off getting it plastic media blasted not sand blasted as media is kinder to the metal...

I sent an e mail to the number one stripping company in the uk whcih are in the midlands some where cant rememeber for the life of me what they were called but excluding the front end doors and boot it was around £1000 inc VAT then there was the zinc coating process which ws about £700 was very expensive!!!

I have decides to get it shot blasted by a local classic car restoration company for £250 thats with the car sprayed in etching primer as well!!

I am based in the north east. The company is called heratage classics http://www.heritagec..._left_menu.html

the other problem with dipping is it eats the softer metal out so you end up with pin holes all over the place!
plastic is good you get a nice smooth finish but you will have to wash the surface with a thinners as mine always have a plastic type dust coat. I dont get surface rust with that on it.
