this sucks as... i blame

A) the goverment
B) the phonix people

its a tradegy, all our minis where built there, from the very first mini to the very last, its a crying shame the goverment should have done much more to help its going to have a big effect on the econemy to!

Personally, I think it has got nothing to do with the government, and fairly and squarely lies on the shoulders of the Management. There has been no investment in new models and the only car which was of any worth, the 75, was designed and paid for by BMW. They made one attempt to revive the MG sports car ledgend and that flopped hidesiously.

The Pheonix management consortium, has sapped £40m out of the company into their own pockets.

Not that I have too many good words to say about BMW, but atlease after they bought rover in 94' they saw the value of the Mini, kept production running and completed the investment in the new mini, and I must admit kept the wheat, and discarded the chaff in the threshing process ( aka MG Rover )

IMO.

Hang on, we can't purely blame others, What about everyone who's been buying Peugeots, Citroens, VW's, etc, etc.
You can't say you support MG Rover now when you've been buying from elsewhere, no matter how cruddy the cars were, I remember the Buy British campaign...!

Maybe Rover should have had a look at that Buy British campaign before they started sticking Japanese engines in their cars?!

i tihnk they should have kept the mini in production, im not sayign this because i love them to bits its because it would apeal to younger people learning to drive. they could drive a classic for half the price of a french car, but its nmo where near as fast. i think they could also have made a road racer mini well a realy rapid one with about 100bhp or around that mark, so people who want a fast well handerling car could have brought.

mate, you cant blame people for buying french cars.

everyones saddend by the rover closure including several thousand who lost their jobs, its difficult to blame people as rover over the last few years had lost their appeal.

Yea, I was just thinking this myself actually, and they didn't really have anything to compete with the Clios, Feistas and Saxos really.
