i was reading last week that rover had sold the rights to the name rover to the chinese last year, so even the name has gone.

some models of the lotus elise are still british, the ones with the 'k' series engine.

Should we mention Morgan in Malvern, Worcs, or has it been sold to the Smurfs?

So that fact that Lotus is owned by Proton has no relavence !!

I think the list of Britsh owned Car manufacturers is something like this..

Morgan
Noble
Bristol ( if there still going )
Caterham
Westfield

and isnt

Mclaren still British..

Hang on a mo, is there a common theme there, low volume high performance vehicles.

please feel free to add/remove as necessary.

Well it depends what you define as a British company. I define it as a company that is not owned by an un-British company nor is it based outside the UK, therefore I still say TVR is British.

It is all very sad, but my Rover has the Honda engine in it and it is alot better than the Rover one.

As far as BMW are concerned, they kept our Classic Mini in production for a few years, in fact until they couldn't make it anymore. It was only when the Eu rubbish rules came in saying that our little classics couldn't have seams sticking out and that they should have flush petrol caps and that the side impact was rubbish, that BMW knew they had to redesign, that is the only reason teh new mini is so big, so shout at the Eu about it.

Anyway the new MINI is as much British as the Nissans at Sunderland and Vauxhalls at Luton, the people at those plants are proud of what they produce.

RIP Rover I will miss you.

Owner of three of Rovers finest.

Oooo, I didn't know that about BMW and the EU, just goes to show you shouldn't judge until you know all the facts!!

Now I hate the Eu as much as I hate BMW! :)
