what the differnce between 1330 and 1340

i've heard about 1330 and 1340cc engines, and i wondered if anyone could tell me what the difference is. And dont say 10. is it a stroked crankshaft?

There is no difference as standard, as people mistakenly call 1330's 1340....

A 1330 is produced by boring to +.060" and using the original crank ( 81.3mm stroke )

A 1340 is possible, but it's an 73.5mm bore with a short stroke (79mm), but these are rarer and v expensive.

ok thanks for clearing that up. im thinking of building a 1330 with sw10 cam and modded head as i mentioned in another thread. would a standard 1275 dizzy be ok for this, or would it have the wrong advance curve?

I have a 1330, with a 276, started off using the standard dizzy which was OK, but when the spindle broke I changed to an Aldon Yellow (No Vac), and it was far superior.

Selecting an advance curve is an art, not a science. Some may say that "this distributor or that" is better for a particular application. The truth is, each engine (installed in a vehicle) has different requirements and what is available "off the shelf" is always a compromise. The fact is, each dizzy really needs to be adjusted on a dyno for the car it's being installed in. Who has that kind of money apart from racers?

Your best bet would be to call the guys at Aldon and tell them what you require.
