hi there

just been on a mini run (100 miles it was brill)

car ran lovely with gear change fine, on the way back i went to change gear and my clutch pedal has gone very very stiff (seems to struggle to depress completly)
after much pushing u can get a gear with second grinding a lot while trying to get it.

ive popped the bonnet and the clutch slave cyclinder seems to be working but the rubber seal is hanging off,

the car is a 1996 spi cooper, could the clutch slave cyclinder be seised?? we went throw lots of water and mud ,or does it sound much more serious? if so any ideas?

once the car is in gear it is fine no slipping on hard ecloration etc

your help is def needed

cheers

Is there fluid leaking from the slave cylinder? You say the rubber seal is hanging off, do you know if it's been like that a while? The purpose of it is to stop dust, grit and debris getting into the cylinder and consequently causing excessive wear.

If the slave cylinder is working and moving the arm maybe an idea to check the clutch throw out nuts (big ones on middle of end plate) these may have worked loose and managed to wind themselves in, it happened to me when i went for a long drive worked great for ages the after coming off motorway the pedal went rock solid....
