How would I know if I have a slot or pin driven oil pump?
I keep getting tempted by shiny new cams, but dont know which drive I have!
Is there a way of tellin by the engine number?
Any ideas?

Basically the early ones were pin drive (60's), then came the Star (70's ish), and with the introduction of the A+ the Slot (80's on )

But, this is not always the case...but fairly close.

But if you're replacing the cam, then there's no reason not to change the pump aswell, so you can get a machin pair !!

Ah, I see. Thanks for that, mine's an A+, late 80's. I am really pushing my budget buying a cam, so an oil pump as well is gonna be a stretch. We'll see though. Thanks for that!

I tend to think it's a good idea to swap the oil pump every time the engine's in bits (unless it's really new). It is what keeps your motor alive after all.....
