Basically just a quick one - during my rebuild, im not gonna use roller rockers, but which standard ones are "best". The forged ones or the presses steel ones.

Which would you put on?

Thankyas.

Forged IMHO are the best, as they were only really found on the Cooper S.
But the normal stinthered (sp) will be fine  unless your going to use something silly poundage on the springs....

The forged type are better than both the sintered type and the pressed type. For one thing I doubt you'll find any pressed rockers anywhere, they are rare and not very good anyway. The forged ones produce a more consistant ratio through the range of movement than the sintered type do, and are slightly higher lift. Also they can be re-bushed when they wear, sintered rockers just wear out. The sintered type do last and last and last though.

The stamped/pressed ones aren't that bad. If you plan on using them in a performance engine, the old-school method of improving them was to tack weld the seam between the two halves of the arm (at several places). The stamped rockers off the ADO16 variants were supposed to be the preferred ones to use as they have oval pads to contact the valve stems as opposed to the round pads on standard stamped arms.
