finally got round 2 getting a pic of my mini.
Been workin on it since july now.
Its very nearly done now, i only need to bleed the brakes (which is proving 2 be more difficult than it should be - easybleed my arse!), finnish attatching the flip front (its held on by G-clamps and trolley jacks at the moment), put the windows and doors back in,
fit a new dash, cover the whole thing in body filler, and get it re-sprayed. Havn't tried starting it yet tho fingers crossed.

does anyone know anythng about re-spraying? How much does it usually cost, where is a good place 2 get it done etc.

Looking good, there is one slight flaw with it though!

The bonnet seems to be in the wrong place? Is it designed to be like that?

Going to get it ready for drag wars? in july.

Nice looking motah!
for a good quality respray youre looking at just shy of a grand. you could save some cash by doing the prep yourself but then if the final paint job isn't as good as you hoped the garage could easily blame it on your prep - rightly or wrongly! i.e. at least if you pay for everything it's their responsibility to make sure it's right.

Ouch thats slightly more than expected. I supose it'd be less if i just got the flipfront re-spayed. what is involved in the prep?

getting the old paint off and/ or sanding it down really smooth (this takes ages), filling and any other repairs, maybe even degreasing and masking, removing bits of trim etc depending on how far you want to go and how you plan on getting the car to the paint shop.
Maybe 1000 is on the high side for a mini because it is a small car after all.

the respray on my old clubman cost £800 including all the prep, repairs to the floor and healboard and having the front wings modified for the 13x6 alloys!

Have an ask around and see what people say, get 3 different quotes and go with the one your happy with but make sure you see some of their previous work too!

Finally got the flip front fitted at the weekend, it was a blody nightmare, especially as the hinges i bought from mini speed didnt fit atall and i had to re-drill all the holes on them.
Drill holes in the subframe wont compromise its streangth and result in MOT failure will they?
