I'm trying to do exactly the same thing at the moment, I have a completely standard Escort and a highly modified mini. Admiral said they could do a policy for each car but would apply my no claims bonus to both cars, but then they would't insure my mini because its modified. As far as I'm aware Footman James is the only insurer I've found that will still insure two cars on one policy, I'm giving them a ring tomorrow.

It might end up that I insure my Escort with Admiral (on there 10 month policy it was just over £600) and then go with the cheapest quote I can get on my mini which so far has been just over £800. But I holding out to see what Footman James can offer. Haven't had a renewal from MiniWorld yet either!

I sort of do, I just ring up the insurance peeps, and say add another car, and they do, taking my NCB record over.. the only thing I cannot do is protect it for a couple of years.

That's Norwich Union ( and until recently I only had one policy number, but now I have too many to remeber )

HIC won't do it. But they give a discount on the second car.

HIC insure both my Modified Mini and my Mazda MX3. The mini has my 6 years NCB on it and the Mazda has this taken into account on it's policy! however the Mazda has a seperate insurance policy but discounted due to my Mini's NCB

most insurers work this way

As I said before, most major and most specialist insurers have stop doing that now, and Footman James is one of the only ones that will offer to put 2 cars on one policy.

You can do that, but as you said it only covers you as TPFT on the other car, also (not very sure about this) i think i heard or read somewhere that the other car must be insured as well. Ie, you can drive your mates car if he is insured but not if his car ins't insured.

Thats it then, being comprehensively insured on one car does allow you to drive other cars, but only if they are insured on a policy as well, i guess it kind of just so you can test drive a car or something.
