i took a 1275gt engine apart yesterday thats been lying in garden
are the heads better than a standard 1275 head
should the cam have a part number it has nothing written on it does this mean its a performance one
the cam timing wheel has large holes in it is this an uprated lighter one or is this normal
the pistons are dished like a bowl (again is this standard)
i only need the gearbox but was wondering if any of the other bits are better as it is a gt engine or if its all just bog standard stuff.
any ideas

The 1275GT was a detune cooper MK3 engine, it lost the 2 extra stud and the compression ratio was lowered... the inlet went down to a 1.3" I think rather than 1.4 or it may have been the exhaust valve which shrunk.. ( will check in a mo ) the crank is a standard 1275 crank with 1.75" mains...
The gearbox should have a CR laygear part number 22G1040 should be stamped on it..
apart from that nowt special....
**edit**
Yep, inlet 1.3" rather than 1.4", also single springs rather than double.

yes count the teeth on the input gear if it has 18 it is a close ratio gearbox as not
all the layshafts are stamped
17 is standard
although you may already know that

lol,, exactly the reason why you dont change the cam in a 1275 with the engine in the car !! (unless it's a cooper with tappet covers )
and if you want shot of the gearbox... I'm sure I can find a home for it :cheese:
Or.. if you want a CR GT gearset I can supply, picked up a laygear to match a spare input I had at the weekend...

Ah, yes the pretty picture on Minifinity...
You will have one small problem, small being the operative word, the GT box will have a small idler gear, where as the idler in you 1994 will be a large one...
If you want me to go into the details of the swaps necessary then I will...

It can be fitted....but
You will have to use the transfer case from the GT and also Primary and Idler gears, because you will be swapping a A+ input for an A series input.
or...
I could build you a box :cheese:

the engine is in garden hopefully not getting wet we shall see i was gonna turbo it but the cost isnt worth it and as im a vauxhall fan the cost of getting a vauxhall engine in is almost same as turbo

im looking at allspeed trying to get exactly what each little peice is gonna cost
vauxhall bits are easily come by but the drive shafts are special and im looking round
its about 2100 drive in drive out supplying all the engine bits your self
now i dont think you would get a turbo a series for that

thats not bad at all, i've gotta admit i've been tempted by the c16se conversion as it'll fit in a standard roundnose and apparently if you fit a corsa diesel geabox you can get very good cruising with them. With a cam and some good manifolding you can squeeze almost 120 horses for not a great deal of cash.
