i took one off last week, the flywheel was already buggered and the block was fit for scrap so i hit it with a sledge hammer, missed the hole slightly and completely destroyed the housing.......... very professional i say!

i always find hitting the centre of the puller with fbh pretty effective.
1) tighten puller a couple of grunts
2) hit with hammer
3) repeat (1) and (2) until it comes off.
Love that pic tho!

ive had an engine like that, 3 grown men holding it down and me jumping on a scaffold pole to get it off.
bolt in flywheel puller bent so thought sod it and took it off. i then kicked the flywheel as i was *Drunk or yellow human water* of about it and the little git just dropped off lol

If you've snapped ally off of anything doing this it means you've probably wrecked the transfer case you were trying to keep, the block is cast iron.

Pour a couple of kettles of boiling water over the taper part of the flywheel with the pullers tightened and you'll find the flywheel will come off without the need to resort to scaffold bars/jumping/or other forms of savagery...

Nice idea that one, slightly less intense as an oxy tourch !!
I did one last night, wound it up and the a little tap ( an literally that ) on the ring-gear with a punch and mallet through the starter motor hole..
So still no stickers ! ( finger still crossed )
