i'm thinking about getting some new tools and clarke seem a likely choice,i'm not looking for really expensive ones just some for home, most of there stuff has a life time garantee so they cant be that bad,i'm looking at getting a new socket set just dont want them to break first time i use them lol

Clarke tools are quite good quality and even if you do break them you can take them back and get a replacement, also Hafrauds are very good quality and most of them are quantied

The lifetime guarantee comes with the 'pro' range clarke tools, and it covers pretty much everything except the internals of the ratchets. For cheap, good quality hand tools its gonna be either clarke pro or the lifetime guarantee halfords ones. ;)

Some of the really cheap Clarke stuff is cheap and nasty, some of their medium-high range stuff is ok. I recently bought one of their higher priced pillar drills and it seems ok, however I know their welders aren't that highly rated, and I've had a Clarke cheapo grinder die on me before.

For hand tools I vote for Halfords professional range. Very good IMO.

I would disagree with you on the welders, I have several friend with the hobby Clarkes and for the money are good value.

They are also rated as one of the better hobby migs over on the mig welding forum.

I've got a few Clarke air tools and haven't broken one yet!!

For hobby use they are pretty good value and much better quality than the silverline/rolson rubbish that seems to everywhere.

Halfords stuff is also quite nice as well

At work I've got quite a bit of Draper stuff and that lasts quite well.

I used to buy clark stuff, got the pro screwdrivers but they broke easily so swapped for stanley and think they are a lot better. my torque wrench just stopped working on the reverse, so not feeling too good about their tools, oh got the plier set and the quality was quite bad had to swop them for another set. Have their angle grinder and welder and had no problems.
