Did a bit to the beast at the weekend, (now called Milf for some reason..
) My STUFF came!
Serviced the engine with new plugs, leads, point, condenser, dizzy cap and rotor arm, fanbelt, and carb rebuild kit, fitted new wipers and got the motor working, and replaced all the brake components, as they were alarmingly bad and appeared to never have been changed.
Old
New
Tried bleeding the system through, but no fluid came through for some reason, I assumed an air blockage. Anyway I went home in a p!ss as is the tradition with this car of late, and had a restless night trying to think of a way to get the fluid through. Anyway I woke up and remembered I had dreamt of a way of doing it..
Fitting a tyre valve to the resevoir cap!
believe it or not it worked, attached a tyre inflator, and pumped the fluid through. It bled like a dream after theat, the pedal now hardly moves vefore the car stops, pretty good for drums!
I also discovered the worst bodge in the history of the universe. For some reason, some knob had ground off the bolt lugs that hold on the rear suspension, and very badly welded on 2 penny washers as a replacement
Remember folks, this car has a years MOT
This is what it should look like
This is what it looks like now
Grrreat!
Yet another thing on the to do list
I love it really.
