and because its a suck through that is why they get away with it. it is not the nicest way to treat the charger when the throttle closes on the suck through the charger sucks against the butterfly of the carb creating a vacume which make the charger work hard which creates more heat. but you get away with it where as when blow through it forces air against the carb and can push past.

what about the shorock and opcom chargers they are blow through and neither have a blow off (that i can tell)

also the suckthrough must realy hurt the butterfly spindle on the carband if thats the case could i put a second throttle cable on and a throttle body at the intake to stop the air

also can nobody recomend any of the old cars that may have a supercharger dump valva

hey stig thats cool i can see that he is using the valve from the bini too but dumping the air (just by the servo).

mini.cooper998 most of the cars i know of that were supercharged running carbs were mostly suck through some superchargers have a built in wastgate/bypass so less working out. If your trying to find a different setup than the bypass its probably best you build it and try to get it working

the valve is bolted to the manifold after the intercooler ond has a pipe down to the inlet mannifold before the supercharger. Apparently these go wrong alot so make sure you dont get a duff one it will cause you grief

red arrow shows where they have three bolts The pic is from the front of the engine

cheers in a mini should i feed the output rom this valve back into the inlet or does it just blow of into the engine bay.

does it sound like a turbo dump valve as well hope so because they sound cool (but not as cool as the wirr from the supercharger)

yes the carb is vertually the same as a metro turbo one the unit on the side is the choke it was water heated from what i remember it can be removed and the bits from a normal hif44 fitted but might be worth a check. i personally would run it back to the inlet if you have the oom for the piping im not sure what it will sound like to be left to blow out.

cheers in a mini i will start collecting the bits over the next few weeks then start to weigh up the install once the shell is finished

should i intercool before or after the supercharger for best effect

shopping list for the next few weeks and please add if ive missed

Eaton charger
pulleys
belts
metro turbo carb
metro turbo plenum chamber
rising rate fuel pressure reg (how does it change its rate is it linked to the vaccum pipe)
BINI blow valve
Facet fuel pump
return pipe to tank
Intercooler
Pipework from filter to charger
pipework from charger to intercooler
pipework from intercooler to plenum chamber
uprated water pump and radiator

am i missing anything

the regulator has a pipe from it to the plenum it senses boost and raises the fuel pressure by that amount keeping the fuel pressure 4-5 psi above boost level. The fuel pump should be a roller vein type same as the turbo its not so much the pressure it pumps at but more the amount of fuel it can flow. the intercooler goes after the charger to cool the heat the charger puts into the charge.
