Its started making a rattle noise mid engine area... at first i thought it was tappets so tried changing the 1.5 rollers over to std rockers as i thought the valve springs were bottoming out... but had no luck there

next i checked the timing gears just to make sure the timing chain wasnt slapping... what the tensioner was tight at one point it wasnt at others, I thought i might have a tight spot in the chain, but this ddint seem to be the case. The duplex gears were also cathcing everso slighly on the case so I modified this while it was off.

ok finally after some new valve springs, the resetting of the tappets to the correct gap, and a new clutch i have finally got the engine running with no problems. And after a road trip down south with madmax, and movibng down from lincolnshire to buckinghamshire its finally bedded in!
Next thing to do is put it on the rolling road. By the feel of the power it has alot more torque but not a massive increase in bhp. Im hoping for 80bhp but not too fused about the fighures as i like the way it drives

Update.
I finally got the Suzuki swift gti seats in and they are a huge improvement over the original mini seats.
After driving to the ring my oil leak that started off small increased in size and I ended up going through 14 litres of oil over the 1700 miles. I believe the oil is coming from the timing cover and so have got another one and gaskets on their way, and once back at home at Christmas I shall be taking the engine back out and checking it over, new gaskets and try to stop the oil leak.
Iv also been finding nice puddles on the rear bench, and found that the rear quarter seals have shrunk, so the new seals are on order. :erm:
I have also just been rebuilding the wiring loom as it managed to short somewhere on the shell burning the casing on a lot of wires. So I took the whole front section of loom out and repaired or changed every wire that was singed, hopefully finding out weather it has worked or not within the next few days. If not then a new loom shall be on order for peace of mind. Pics to follow.
