My first post here! Hello
I'm considering buying a Mini - I'm a huge fan of them & always have been, but I've never actually owned one due to racking the miles up on the way to work - now I don't have to travel far, so should I buy one? - what's the best Cooper model to get - given a £5k budget?
Sorry if this is in the wrong section, still finding my way around.
PS. It's my Birthday today!!
Newbie thinkin' about finally gettin' a Cooper!

Thanks for the welcome!
I'll have a good look around, I've been looking at the Mini's for sale on the Mini World site - there are some crackers there for little money. The best deals tend to be older model that have been restored - I couldn't believe how reasonable some of them are, especially after the owners have lovingly spent £1000's on them!!
Thanks for the compliment about my website - I've been meaning to do it for ages, I've only recently finished it & editing Mini photos for a month has re-kindled my want for a Mini!

Hi europa, and welcome to probably the best Mini forum on the planet (IMO)!
£5000 is an excellent budget to get yourself a really nice Cooper.
As to which Cooper you should buy is dependant on what you want from the car!
You could look at a very nice early Cooper which should hold its value if kept in good condition and also be exempt from road tax!
Or you could get a late injection engined model for reliability(?) including the Sportspack models if you like the styling of them.
Or if you want something you can tinker and tweak about with a 1991 or earlier carb'ed model is good for engine/performance mod's.
Also a good investment would be to look out for good examples of RSP or Monte Carlo editions (I'd love to own a Monte Carlo myself!)
Anyway I'm sure ther's plenty more good advice out there that will get posted up soon.
Good luck with your search!
