Hi,

I have recently suffered a serious motorcycle accident courtesy of someone planting a load of diesel on a motorway slip road which i happened to find. I have been put off completely of riding another motorcycle on the road but would still like to play around with the engines and while i spend the next 6 months in my armchair waiting for my leg to repair, im after as much info as possible. Basically i want to put an R1 engine in a mini. At the moment i dont have either but was wondering if anyone could give me info as to where to start.

Many Thanks

Pete ;)

There are a few kits to chose from there is Pro-motive who put an R1 engine in the front and Zcars Which put theres in the rear. Have a look at thier websites to gat an idea.

Hope this helps

Really depends what you want to use it for really? Pro-motive is great if you want to keep your Mini, Mini, plus the conversion is much cheaper.

But Z Cars is the best if you want to have fun on track days or racing, etc.

personaly i have gone for pro-mo as its just as good if not better than z-cars plus the guys are awsome. so i wouldnt go the z-cars way! as u get a good shell & then distroy it then it can only be used as that car as with myn i simply have to change the subframes & hey presto i have a A-series lump back in plug it in to the mini loom running along side & away you go a massive bonus in my mind!

Also i have rely enjoyed the customer service i have recived sundays ie 10pm when im tinkering in the garage ;)

but again it depends on what you want from it if youve got the money to burn to do a full light weight just for the track then z-cars but if you want just as much fun & Power & 4 people in the car going to shows then PRO-MO all the way plus more money left over to have nice tricks like flocked dashes etc hehehe

All the best hope it goes well for you

Hi

I'm also a newbie, hope you don't mind me jumping on your thread.

I'm also very interested in building a R1 powered Mini.

Regarding the Pro-Motive kit ... What about reverse gear ??

Wheres the best place to get upgrades for the Mini ? Brakes, suspension, rollcages etc etc ??

Loads of places, minispares is good, they got an online shop, use Ebay too, you might even have a local mini shop in your area! you can also pick loads of stuff up at shows!
