ive been looking into turbo's and i have a 1310 engine i was going to rebuild with some tasty little parts to produce a quick little turbo... but ive read a few things and im not sure on the best approach to lowering the compression ratio.

Skimming the pistons is one thing, saving on turbo ones and keeping the higher volume.

the second, which i read about 2day and quite interested in, is head modifying... now this was advertised by minispeed as "head for use with turbo" and looking at the picture it showed one chamber but enlarged and rounded...

now i was wondering if i cud do this and not have to remove the pistons etc, assuming that everything is in perfect order, could i get 8.5:1 CR just by getting a machinest to grind out the chambers?

You can do it yourself , but you will have to do some sums to work out the volume of the chamber you require, grind out the metal with a die-grinder and check out the volume using a big syrige (marked off in cm2)and some parafin , you use a head gasget as a tamplate , I havent tried this myself but am sure i read it in the Visard book .

i take it that it means its possible to take enuf off the head to lower the CR? in which case i have a mate who machines for a living, but not got round to asking him if its possible as he's not mini minded as such...

Come round to my place on day mate and I'll take you to see the master - Nolan Pitts, he'll know what you need to do and he has templates and calculations for it too...
