The car failed its MOT due to steering rack being insecure, does this mean new bushes or what? Rodgers(Rover dealer) couldn't find anything in the way of bushes, any ideas as to what it could be?
They've given an advisory on play in lower steering column bush so its not this, I'm quite confused and MOT runs out tomorrow please help!!!

How much play is in the steering rack, with the wheels on the floor, you can usually move the steering rack a few mm anyway?
This wouldn't have anything to do with your off-roading experience would it?

Hmmm, actually, Insecure? Might be something with the U-bolts that hold it on the body? Have you checked for rust or something?

That was the one! Yea was the clamps that hold the rack to the body, all sorted now. I think it happened just over a year ago when i crashed it and they've never been tightened since! oops!just tighten your nuts and try again
Yea Bungle it was fun down those lanes with about 5-10 degrees of play in the steering!
