it would be like this if ur button was permanently pressed in. therefore it wouldnt lock out so you could park but would be used as a driving aid in competition such as rallyingWhile we're on the subject does anyone know what a 'fly-off' hand brake is?

You can lock a flyoff handbrake. It works the opposite to a normal one in that you have to press the button to lock it. If you don't press the button it won't lock so you have a nice rally handbrake but if you do press it then it locks where you leave it. To unlock it you just lift it a little.

The 'old' mod was to drill thru handbrake lever and button (pushed down) and fit an R-pin or split pin, so i'm told by my dad.

It is true of course that you can modify the handbrake so that it won't lock, but a proper fly off handbrake is new parts to fit into the handbrake lever which changes the mode of the lock.
