I found that Tesco were quite good. I'm 18 and they didn't gasp at the fact that i'd modified my mini. I paid just under a grand on my 998.

Watch Endsleigh, I had nowt but trouble with them. They messed my address up and it took them 4 attempts to get my policy documents and rules n regs thru. And the only way I got them was by havin an accident and NEEDING them to show them to the police.
Then I find 2 weeks later that by cancelling the policy when told to by the people in the Endsleigh offices I have to pay the remaining amount of the policy in one lump  I couldnt, got very firm with the offices to let them know that I WASNT responsible if they had made so many mistakes, and had to threaten to bring in outside agencies to help me. That stopped them pretty sharpish though!
All in all, NOT a good experience.
HIC (Miniworld) is great if you are over 19.

Try this one for insurance

Insurance

basically you fill out the details once and it trawls all the insurers for you telling you what each one quotes, covers asda endsleigh, norwich union etc etc
saves tons of time form filling.

once you have the best quote say tesco, dont buy it of the site, go direct to the insurer
ie www.tesco.co.uk and re-input the details (works out much cheaper)

saves a ton of time too.!

Im with Liverpool Victoria, paid £1508.83 fully comp in my own name at 17, on a 1993 1275 in what is considered a high risk postcode.

Although still rediculously expensive, it was a damn site cheaper than anywhere else i tried.

Your lucky! the area you live in must be lower risk, fully comp for me on a 1275 cooper would be more like 2000/2500

Bloody rediculous!

And another one treading on very thin ice! Thinking of joining Crocstar are you! (Posting about lady drivers!)
Don't even know why I'm looking at this thread as I should be thinking of joining SAGA. Interesting though seeing how much these insurance companies are ripping you all off - don't worry though it'll get cheaper as you get older, so they brainwash you into believing.

Good luck with the quotes
