Its three years now.

More Than are pretty cheap insurers. I'm 20 with 2 years NCB and it would only cost £350 for standard 998. For a 1275 its only £470. Now i just need a mini lol.

Andrew

P.S i'm not sure what they would say if ya modded it though.

Hey guys im adam and im new to this whole mini business but im loving it :- and ive just bought a mini

But i was very much ripped off when insuring my mini, im 17 and just bought a 1998 mini cooper with a 1275 cc engine  and couldnt be happier i love the car to peices cost me a bit though i paid 2600 knocking it down from 2750 :P.

But then when it came to insurance wow. First of all before looking for a mini i did look at insurance prices and i did a few quotes on other Mini's which were for sale at the time for around about the same prices and engines and i was delighted to find they were cheaper than the previous cars that i had looked at which was a VW polo :P, and so i found out that the price of the insurance was about £1400 on my own insurance, but then i got my mini which i was over the moon about back to the house then the next day me and my dad looked at insurance and to my horror i found out that the insurance companies wouldnt offer me less than £3400 on my own insurance i could have cried because i was soooooo pleased with my mini and the reason we think is that it is a cooper, not the engine size or age of the car but the name!!!! But eventually after a few days of looking on the internet we found the AA would give me £1800 under my dad's name so thats how i did it and i couldnt be happier. This way i will not be getting any no claims though :/ but who cares ive got the mini of my dreams :P and i dont have to worry about insurance again for a whole year.

But i do warn you all before you go too look at a car get a quote for that car before buying!

my first year, 17 no NCB, stage 1 1275, buckets rollcage, alloys arches, adrian flux, £1900, pretty good considering some of the other quotes!

second year, also with flux, 1650, not too bad either, car got knackered switched to peugeot 306, got £50 returned lol!

now, my 3rd year, still on the peugeot, £1100 at 19! with brentacre  theres only 4 people that work there, are all extremely helpfull, actually know what you are talking about when you start talking mods.

so when its back on the road...

1380 full race/rally roughly 120 bhp, suspension, brakes, the works! all mods declared, fully comp, agreed value of 6K,

at 19 with 2 years no claims £1850! best i had from others was £3500+

I am 18, Student, medium/low risk postcode, held my licence for less than a month, kept on drive, for a 1400cc mini 30, got £1200 fully comp. (£400 excess) with footman James limited to 6000 miles which is all I need, they only wanted £670 for TPFT. Includes legal protection, £50 windscreen excess, breakdown cover and 35 days of europian cover. The woman who gave me my quote seemed genuanly pleased at how low it was.
Adrian flux were £2600 or £2200. Everywhere else would not do it or it was a huge amount.

Student 21, 0 no claims, 1 recorded accident driving since 17,
1293 mini with all (and all=lots) of mods declared, garaged, agreed value, mileage limit of 3000 per year, full European cover and UK and Euro Breakdown cover comes out about £440 with Adrian Flux but Insurance is with Highway. With a bit of TMF discount.
