Be honest if you're asking this you're probably a wee bit too early in your research to be taking on such a conversion.....

There are plenty of threads on this forum which would answer your question.

actually, i'm interested in mating a complete bike engine with a mini gearbox as well. and i've spent hours/days on here looking for someone that's done it.

my logic tells me that if i connect say a 100hp bike engine to the mini flywheel/clutch, you would still have a reliable engine conversion without the need for costly subframes/diffs etc. AND have a reverse gear.

have a thick plate of sorts blocking off the top of the gearbox(and switch to trans fluid), connect the engine of choice to the flywheel/ clutch(some sort of machined adapter would probably be required) and bob's your uncle.

correct me if i'm wrong plz, i only got my mini 2 weeks ago, but i'm fairly mechanically inclined(mainly bikes) and this makes sense to me.
technically the mini would then have 2 gearboxes, but only the mini one would be in use.
the bike engine's strongest torque gear(1st would be used permanently.)

this application would be ideal for older model engines that are affordable like the suzuki TL1000 or the air/oil cooled bandit 1200(that would simplify A LOT with regards to cooling etc). i mention these engines due to their hp value of around 100hp( i hear the mini gearbox is good for up to 100hp) and they both have high torque outputs.

You wouldn't have enough room to have both the mini gearbox and the bike engine in the engine bay, in fact the only bike engine I know that fits and it only just fits is the R1. The bandit will be to big as it's longer than the round front engine bay is. No way could you have the mini gearbox in it's standard position and any bike engine I know of on top of it connected somehow without it sticking out of the bonnet about a foot. It would also be a bit pointless not using the six speed sequential gearbox in favour of a 4 speed mini box. You could use some bits of the mini driveline diff/driveshafts etc and this is what pro motive have done in a custom transfer box

Cheers
David

And before even that starts to matter, think of the rpm difference between your two engines......

This stuff should be in mini chat really.......
