Wiring an ammeter

Can somebody explain how I should wire in an ammeter?

would u connecct it to the battery phaps and then set it up like wiring a rev counter

huh?????

it has to be connected in series between the battery and all the other electrics, bar the starter motor or itll blow. What I wnat to know is how this is done in real life (where are the wires?)

an ammeter measure amps. This is the measurement of current(lfow) of electricty. Therefore you have to wire what ever you want it to read in series through it. Ususally the case is wiring most thuing through it apart from startermotor as this drains massive current and will blow it.

The meter will show + and - reading to show current being put in from the alternator and - for current being draw through electrical items shuch as heater and lights. The guage should usualy read around 0 when the engin is running

Okay I figured out how to do it after reading.

My question is, can I wire it to the starter solenoid by connecting it to the wire going to the ignition barrel?
