Hey I want to get a tacho for my mini and found a nice one but it goes to 12k :gasp:

A bit too much for the old A-series methinks!

Anyway what I want to know is if I set the switch to 8Cyl, will it the under-read or over read? Any way to deflect it twice as much?

I.e. so that when it shows 12k the engine is actually doing 6k?

Because it looks silly when the tach reads up to 12 and the maximum the needle will ever move is less than half way

not really! it'll look sillier that you are trying to trick people into think you'r minis got some formula 1 style ability!, and ticking over at 2/3000 rpm lol!

8cyl will under read im sure, twice as many cylinders, so the cycle takes longer, mini has 4cyl, so 1,3,4,2 then starts again, so i think it wont even move a quarter!

www.speeding.co.uk do the TIM range of gauges, ive just ordered an 80mm in a pod for 39 quid.
