i've had a quick search thru the forum and could not find any conclusive answer, any ways heres my plan..

i currently have a spare complete MPI engine sat in my garage. i already have every thing needed to convert it to a carb along with a megajolt off my old engine.

so what im planning is to strip all the sensors vacume hoses etc and replace with a carb and megajolt. personaly i cant see any problems with this but does any one know if its not posible? as i'd rather know now lol

the engine will be going in an early mini so emissions wont be a problem.

many thanks

You will need an electric fuel pump, and somehwere to fit the coolant temp sender. also need to use the MPi alternator and drive belts otherwise you need to fabricate some sort of alternator bracketry

yep got a fuel pump and the engine still has alternator etc fitted, looks like its just sorting the temp sender out, will have to give that one a bit of thought

Only other problem is fitting a 36-1 crank sensor to the engine for the Megajolt

that should not really be a problem i've fabricated my own for 5 ( 2x998 3x1275) engines so far. the extra width of the pully might cause a clearance problem if i go for a side mounted rad tho :withstupid:

arnt the emmisions tested against the age of the engine? and not the age of the car though?

Luckily, they go by whichever is the older.

Have you thought of modding the MPI crank sensor wheel? That'd be really tidy :withstupid:
