I've been trying to remove the gear shift selector seal for the last 2 + hours. I can't seem to fit a small screwdriver and hook it. Is there any other way to do it? How can I remove this seal?

I'm using the smallest screwdriver I could find. What size did you guys use? How should I remove it from the center and not the outside? I'm all out of ideas. =(

Any suggestions would be so helpful.

Stuck seal,

anthony

One of these works wonders, and a 17mm socket helps to seat the new one home squarely.

I picked this similar picks but, I can't seem to get a good hook on it.

Should I hook it on the outside or near the shaft. Isn't it a bad idea to damage the housing? =(

We both use rocket in our names, which means we are both so cool. Ok, I'm going to resort to the tap and drill as a last ditch effort. My buddy changed out the same seal and somehow he was back to hook it with a small screw driver. Why does mine have to be so difficult. =(

The way I’ve looked at it, is the seal can only be used the once anyways, so if its damaged on removal its no big deal.

Are you trying to get the rubber bit out or the silver bush?

You will struggle to "pick" or lever the support bush out - really need the gearbox apart and knock it through from the inside. Just refit using a new rubber seal (some people use two seals)

I'm trying to remove the silver bushing. I am struggling to pick the bushing. Take the gearbox apart? That seems like more work. =(

Are you sure it has to come out? The quick fix of banging two good new seals in usually fixes any leak...

So here is what I did. As xrocketengineer indicated to drill a hole and I did but I didn't use a screw instead I just used a small screwdriver to hook it out. It took me about 10 mins to drill and hook.

Thanks for all the help! I've attached the bushing with the hole I drilled! =)

Excellent! I am glad to know that it worked for you too.
