Clicking/Squeaking noise from hub

Luvlygal's Mini, Ernie.

Posted Image

Has started making a wonderful new noise that progressively got louder over the course of one journey.

What are people's thoughts?

My thought is outer CV UJ?

Joy!

Can I replace the UJ or do I have to get a new driveshaft?

Is it just me or does it sound like the brake disk guard catching the disk slightly? Sounds really metallicy for a cv.

Think it might just be the quality of the video, don't think the guards catching.

If it's all the time = wheel bearing breaking up ! If only on full lock = CV joint.

Looking at the video it looks like the wheel bearing has broken up. The disk is probably flopping about and catching the stone guard, making that scraping noise. Is there any play in the drive flange?

The noise is all the time, not just on lock. There's no play in it. Not much more I can do with it here though as I don't have any tools and the Viva's out of action so can't pick them up. Jen's getting a quote from her local garage so will see how much they want, she gets mates rates anyway so with any luck it won't be too much.

disk appears to be constant - nothing to show its rotating off axis.......CV boot is doing the mambo though :)- I'll stick with outer CV perished......
