Today I put my old drivers seat back in, and drove to the tyre place to get another new tyre on. Whilst I thought £49 supplied and fitted was expensive :P (the tyres are £21 each at minispares and the tyre place only charge around £16 for fitting!) I didn't have means to travel to harrogate to Minispares to get a tyre. Well, I do have a means to get out and about but I don't want to risk it with the clutch being ready to go at any time - literally.

So the clutch... yes the clutch. I don't NEED a clutch arm plate, or return spring, or anchor plate. So I'm not having one fitted. Got a clutch slave cylinder on order, which should be with me on Wednesday. Taking Evelyn in to Steve on Thursday who's going to:

Fit the new clutch slave cylinder
Supply & fit a new choke cable (:ermm: of a job!) - frayed at the carb end
Supply & fit new accelerator cable - 'tis frayed at the carb end
Look at the tracking
Have a check for obvious things wrong at the passenger side front wheel - every now and then there's a mysterious "clunk/knock" especially when that wheel mounts a lowered kerb for example.

Yeah I'll come and put them up but with my trigger happy drilling you may end up with more than you bargained for... :dontgetit: by means of a "WINDOW" drilling out of the wall, naturally :D

Well I thought I'd save this for a few days, been at it about 3 nights in a row now.

New centre console, fitted ;) :

Speakerboard fitted (still in progress)...

New rear seats fitted  :

The boot before the light & liner kit...

And afterwards  :

After all my efforts fitting that switch to the centre console, it doesn't illuminate when it's switched on >:( I think I damaged it when I fitted it. So the console will have to come out again to replace the switch. TRES annoying. But I have plenty of spares :P

Next on the list - taking her to the garage tomorrow to get the slave cylinder, and the throttle and choke cables replaced. Also getting the tracking done and a quick check over of everything to make sure she's alright for the trip to brummyland in a fortnight. Probably end up getting a new set of plugs too, as one of those burnt the other week and steve put in a second hand one for now, may as well replace them all, only a few quid. :genius:

Then at the weekend, hopefully, I'll tidy out all my C**p, hoover the carpets, stick in the new seats and put the old ones up for sale

Got her back from Steve today, albeit at 7pm, but at least he finished it rather than keeping it over the weekend to finish on Monday.

Had the following work done:
New throttle cable
New choke cable
Switch panel refixed
Clutch slave cylinder replaced, along with link pipe
Tracking set
General check-over, passenger side front wheel hub made secure (t'was loose)
Small fuel leak from carb housing attended to.
New set of plugs.

Looks like she is good to go on our biiiiig journey in a couple of weeks >_<

One problem tonight though... picked her up, drove fine a few yards to the chippy.
Started fine, drove home a mile fine.
Started up fine and drove 2 miles to Halfords fine. Did thrash her a bit but nothing too harsh.
Went into halfords, about 20mins, came out, wouldn't start  battery was fine, there was plenty of power there, just wouldn't "catch/ignite" and start up??
Played with the Coil, even though the connections were new a few weeks ago. Still the same.

Then all of a sudden after pumping the throttle she fired into life after a second or two of coughing.

Any ideas on what it could have been? Seems fine now.

Today summed up in one picture:

Posted Image

Whilst doing weekly checks I managed to leave a rag on the block and start the engine, sucking the rag around the fan. Stopped engine, got out, and the rag was just there on top, not tangled or anything. Looked to be no damage, but the fan blades had bent and all broke off on the crank pulley the next time I started her up. All of them have broken and scattered around the garden  ah well.

New fan for me then, may as well get the new clutch arm and get that fitted while she's in the garage.

Carpets looking good! What did you use to glue it all down with?

I mainly used double sided tape. For the underlay I used loads of the stuff, and I used the tape along with carpet glue (spray type) on the arches and slopey bits so it stays down! Then between the underlay and carpet I used a little bit of tape but mainly loads and loads of glue. The carpet has a sort of grippy back anyway so should stay in place without it but I thought I'd make a good job of it :)

This afternoon I fitted my speaker pods... had already put the wiring in so it was literally "plug and play":

Oh first here's a reminder of what the interior was like two months ago.

And now :)

What d'ya reckon? Not bad considering I was very hungover :ghost:
It took a lot of swearing to get the nut on the end of the bolt on the inside of the dash rail... but worth it in the end. Can't see any wiring unless you stick your head in the footwell and you can't see the fixings either unless you do the same.

Oh and yes that is the bonnet prop in the passenger footwell, the locking washer that holds it on has come off and I can't find it... O_O

Great project mate hope to see it in person soon as i plan to attend 1 of your mini meets soon.

eBay, £8 including postage! But there's a couple of members selling them on here in the for sale section if you're quick enough!

Cheers for the comments

I HOPE Evelyn will be at the next meet... she missed the last one  the next meet is on my birthday so I won't be staying for long though.
