OK, so i have done all my body work... and half way throught the engine....

i was not going to go turbo, but i have changed my mind once again!

the cut out for the turbo to sit in, does this have to be there?... i did ask on turbo minis.. but did not get much feedback!

i mean i don't want to losse my heater matrix.. or bolt it further forward... can i still add the turbo with out the box cut out!..

some guy said yes, and gave me a link .. but i did not find any thing to helpful on the site.... can any one shed any light on the manifolds, turbo, carbs and chambers i will need...

thanks!

thats the only bit on a mini i am not to clued up on... but i would about 12-16psi of boost!...

basically yes you will need to cut the bulkhead to give room for the turbo, or alternatively you could use the mirage manifolds and that would mean you can leave the bulkhead as it is.
hope this helps.

yup, you'll need the mirage manifolds and a T2/T25 turbo, you can use the normal metro turbo inlet/carb/plenum etc.

this is what they look like with a T25 fitted and cost £350 from http://www.miragemotorsport.com/ (click on mini)

You can rotate the compressor housing to point in a better direction, if that's what you were looking at.

im not to good on this but i spoke to me mate that had a metro turbo in his and cut the bulk head out but finding these manifolds have changed my mind with the bilk head cutting

i was just wondering the t2 turbo fits on to the manifolds but i was also wondering if the t2 is best for the 1275 engine with this layout??

also does the wireing need changin over and is it hard??

cheers

yeah the comp housing needed rotating, i'd just put it together to make sure it fitted ok.

I'd say a T2 is definately the way to go on a 1275 engine, pretty sure phil would agree too.

Don't need to change any wiring apart fromt he dizzy/coil and starter depending what you've already got and waht you will be using.

what i already got?? do you mean what engine i have i thought i would have to change them but me mate said about the other stuff fuse box lights ect but i didnt think that would come into changing the engine

would i need the metro loom for the dizzy starter ect or just modify the mini one??

i am deffently convinsing myself to go down the mirage manifold route lol i just want a bigger engine but having the turbo just puts the biggest smile on my face haha :closed:

apart from the few other things its just get the engine do what i want, slap her in, rolling road then away i go??
what sort of power are you guys pushing with the metro turbo lump with the t2

cheers

if you've already got non ballated electric ignition then you wont need to change the wiring for that, then it just depends what type of starter motor/clutch arrangement you use in the turbo lump compared to what you've got now.
The only other things you'll need to wire will be the fuel pump and inertia switch.

i dont know anyone running a std lump with a T2 to be honest.
With properly specced/built engines i'm running 160 horse @ 15psi on a t2, should hopefully be a bit more with a better matched turbo though. My mates running 190 horse @18psi on a T2. both of us are 1293cc.

trouble is then you get into the realm of making your own custom manifolds/downpipes/oil feeds/drains etc.

Most people stick with the T2/25 flange because its easily do-able with normal garage tools onto a metro manifold or buying the mirage setup.
