I put the setup into the wheel to check the flange was true/straight after modification to remove the 4 bits.

It also allowed me to rotate the setup as it would on a car to check the wheel bearing was good etc. Didnt want to put it on the car to find out, the CV or wheel bearing was fudged.

if i can get hi lios cheap enough then they will be put on also..need to find some nice wheels that will fit over this conversion too..ideally banded steelies but dnt think they will fit =[

only reason im doing this work is i cant be bothered to MOT it in setpember and my insurance is up in September and im not paying the 600odd quid renewal yet

sorry cookie jamming up your thread

Dont worry, this it what we need to do talk about our conversions and put links up to help each other out. :)

I couldnt get the brakes to fit within a normal 10" steel wheel. So i think banded steelies will not fit too....but i could be wrong?

hmm
apparently putting a spacer on could allow for steelies but im unsure on that
if i had the money for the cooper S route i would...but i prefer the idea of the fiesta one..as its cheaper and seems relatively simple..
theres is also still a wide choice of wheels that would fit over it.

i know the carrier has to be grinded down slightly and also 2 holes have to be drilled out.

is there any other machining that needs to be done or is it all work on the carrier mainly?

All you need to do is

carrier bracket grinding down
hub holes drilling
turned disc down to 7.9"

Its optional if you want to do any more. I had the calipers machined to accepted the banjo type hose. but if you fit a standard hose with a metric end, you dont need to modify the caliper at all.

I choose the banjo type as i wanted to make sure i could position the hose so it wouldnt foul any component and ive also seen the other type hoses make a S shape which I wouldnt be happy with.

well from the 37page long thread on this conversion before
apparently theres a site that sell hoses made up already with the correct fittings to go onto the fiesta caliper and the correct fittings for the mini end of them..so may go down the route of getting them

Yeah. Think that would give you the S bend. As the hose leaves the caliper at the top of the fiesta, so then the hose needs to bend towards the subframe, down and back up so the bulkhead fitting fits into the subframe hole. Should be fine, but im not keen on it.

My banjo type hose fits similar to a mini setup. Ive checked it on the ramp for fouling on components under full lock and steering etc and it clears by a good distance, so im happy.

Heres a link to some hoses already made up http://shop.instant-...tno1090649.html
Jordie can you tell us if these require the calipers machining or will they fit straight on.

Those are banjo type hoses and will require the casting on the caliper machining flat to ensure a fluid tight fitting.

hmmmmmm

surely you can get the hoses made up with correct fittings for subframe end and caliper end without having to have the casting on thecaliper machined flat

Yeah, I think one of the companies was aeroquip or something like that. I did quite alot of research into this conversion before I decided to go for the 'S' conversion.
