Right ive hit a bit of problem in my project, well not a problem as such just me being into 2 minds of what to do regards the frontend.

Yesterday i picked my new shell up for the project and since then i just cant decide what to do with it. The problem comes with the frontend being in such a good condition with all new panels and sprayed in primer. Now the mini will be my weekend/fun car, no requirement for it to an everyday use. Before i bought the shell i bought a new 2 piece carbon kevlar frontend from Mr Curley and the american style flip hinges from 'superfastminis' in america. I really want to do this but the shell is mint! Having a solid shell is always good but theres the wow factor of the possible frontend and it being kevlar (which apparently has the same strength capabilities). Then theres whether the frontend will line up nicely, seen recommendations of curley on here, anymore for anymore?. To cut or not cut off that is the question? Opinions please!

For a bit of a visual heres a couple of pics;

I can't really think of many disadvantages.. although during these winter months people do complain about how mud & grime from the road gets flicked up into the engine bay due to the lack of inner wings, but then considering yours will only be a weekend/fun car and isn't a daily driver this shouldn't be a problem.

If you do it right then you won't be able to tell the difference between steel & kevlar, hide the fixings etc..

& I think you should do it because I'm doing the same thing, so you can make the mistakes first :(

seems a bit of a shame to cut up something in such good nick. could always store your flip front and use it when the current front gets tatty.

My advise is if you want to do it and it was what you intended, then go for it. If you don't then when it's done you'll wish you had.
I bought a new heritage shell when i did mine and initally had second thoughts, but cut it off and haven't looked back.

Thanks for the advice people!

I think i will be going with what davejf said and doing it! But then again i might wait till a further step in the project (after this one) when i do some form of a engine replacement :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Anymore advice?
