For those newbies to welding (including me) I thought it would be useful to have a database of welding settings for various welders, and since welder models are pretty similar across the makes it should be quite easy to use these as a starting point even if your welder isn't exactly the same.

Please fill out in the following format:

Welder:
Number of settings:
Turbo (yes/no):

Setting for 1mm metal:
Setting for 2mm metal:
Setting for 3mm metal:

just a quick note to say that
every welder is slightly different (we have 3 of the same model at work) all have sligtly different settings.
and the way people weld is totally different, some weld faster and at higher temps than others who weld slower.
wire feed and speed both effect your weld and penertration.
also the gas flow rate and gas your using effects it , rule of thumb for hobby welding is 10 liters per min

it might be worth just getting a few bits of plate and doing test welds on them.
then you can look for penertration ,fusion, leg length , under cut , cold lap etc.

if u want to know how to test weld let me know and ill try talk ya through it - but just to say im NO EXPERT AT ALL.
i can just weld to a 'good enough' standard.

On the mig welding forum there is a calculator(I think)

I'm not sure about trying to use generic settings as there will be lots of other factors to consider, gas flow/Guage of material/type of gas.

Even the type of welding wire.

I find settings are a personal thing, my mate can't use my settings and I can't use his, however the welds are the same(mine are better!!)
