Great project mate
I was surprised though you did it on a car with such nice condition to begin with!!! It looked mint in the earlier pics!
What setup you doing on the bike side? Fwd and R1?
Liking the updates aswell

Thats right, FWD R1 - will be a tuned R1 engine though. Im hoping for appx 190 bhp from it.
It was totally mint when I got it so it probably would have been better to start with something worse, but I got it over 3 years ago and didnt know any better! I'll be posting more frequently now as the weather is looking up and I have all the gear to start! (new welder too)

I am currently in the middle of consctucting a gazebo so that it can be welded outside with no problems with my gas welder.
I love the way your building your home around the mini
Awesome!

4 pages in and no sign of a bike engine yet - is this in the right section?

Going by what the OP has put down so far I'd say yes?
The project started in june 07 but in aug 08 he then decided he was gonna go bike for his new plans which would start in a few months, april 09 the project continues on a bike theme, bought a new shell to practise cutting, just waiting for updates? Can't see anything wrong myself unless I've missed something, looks to me like the OP project is bike?
Thats the way I've read it
Maybe your too impatient!

It is indeed R1 up front... though the engine will be the last thing in, else what will happen is that ill fit my new engine (as with the 1380) leaving the rest of the car half finished, then it will stay that way! This time round i'll do it properly

Well I have made good progress on the gazebo, taking pictures during:
and after:
As you can see the purple beast is in its new home already, though the real animal is still in hiding:
After the purple beast has had its turn, the white mondeo will be put inside the gazebo for some more practise:
You may be wondering why there are panels of wood / metal around the base of the gazebo - well I am making it windproof so I can weld, im not too worried about rain though!
Next: I'll complete the gazebo by windproofing the front, then the purple beast needs stripping down to the bare shell, ready for mutilation gotta love the nice weather too!

A little off topic, but my dads car failed its MOT on saturday, so tonight I set at repairing it! There was rust on the sill near the rear offside wheel arch, within 12 inches of a seatbelt mount - so a failure.
Before (minus 1 cut):
Hole cut:
Outside of cut out part:
Inside of cut out part:
Cut out prepped for welding:
Underside of repair section (taken off another mondeo):
Topside of repair section:
I removed all rust from the inside of the cut out too, ready for a nice clean weld - fingers crossed!
I'll weld it tomorrow if there is no wind, then finish it off, hopefully there will be no trace of a repair section whatsoever
