just putting the finishing touches to my car, I got the arches on now all I need to do is put on the sill. This would be fine except that I've recently had all new welding to the sills and its a bit bumpy to be getting my sill back on without cracking them, any tips how to get them on, please!?

A suppose, but its quite thick and bumpy and has been re-sprayed think the sandpapaer and file is a good idea though, i'l work at it this weekend. Its always the small jobs that take ages!!!!

Invest in an angle grinder? One of those 10 pound ones should suffice for small jobs like these.
Probly end up cheaper than buying all that sand paper and files!

Also, be carefull where the sparks go. Im really good at setting things on fire with angle grinder sparks. Paint, petrol, clothing etc etc, I can do just about anything, lol.

i love my angle grinder. It's a Makita it turns at about 20,000rpm and it cuts steel like butter. watch your fingers though it really hurts catchin them on the cut off disk trust me i've done it lots. Oh what sills are you talking about? the plastic sill that fits over the metal sill...?

If you have lumps on your sills after having new ones fitted  , Take it back to the butcher that fitted them and tell them to do it properly or you will tell trading standards
and then tell all your mates so that they can avoid the butcher (sorry for the insult to butchers) that bodged them on .
If you grind all the lumps off BEWARE the sills might fall off !!
If the sills were fitted by a mate to save money , Learn your lesson .
