Try Footman James isurance.
I've been with them since 19 and 1st year with them was £650 fully comp + agreed value.
I put 9,000 limited mileage and declared I joined a mini club, these dropped the price by £150 alone!

... maniflow is a make of performance exhaust.
the manifold is a part of the exhaust.

Also, is it a Maniflow or Manifold exhaust? Im kinda confused, and am not sure!

maniflow is the make of back box fitted.
the manifold exhaust is the pipes coming from the engine block into the single pipe. so a custom hi flow stainless exhaust system for example.

i think anyway.

i have no idea whats standard or not, apart from the back box :)

its really tempting not to mention any of it but i think i'd get screwed if i needed my insurance.

best quote so far it 560, im 22 nso anybody know any good companies for the older drivers?

Ok guys,

I really do need your help now,
insurance company have phoned me saying they are going to cancel my policy due to the number of 'modifications' on my mini

So I need to find a better one, they have offered me an alternative which is that I lose my original deposit of £230, and have to pay another deposit of £200, and it would be £189 a month. Totalling £1700 a year.

Surely theres a cheaper option than this?

All I want is 3rd Party Fire and theft.
To drive it everyday
Not sure how many miles I would be doing a year,
Im 18 years old, nearly have one years no claims,
modifications are K&N air filter, maniflow exhaust, clear rear lights, the tyres (i guess?), and speakers in the back, thats it, they were all done before I bought the car.

Can someone recommend me a much cheaper one?

its probably got other mods on it but i needed insurance to pick it up so i couldnt declare everything.

that was with http://www.adrianflux.co.uk/

have you considered putting an original air filter and the original lights back on, this would seriously reduce your quotes as the insurance companies are unfortunately looking at you as a boy racer type person.

might be the cheaper option for a couple of years

What's modified about the tyres?

If you have declared power increase with the modifications, have they asked for bhp, what have you said?

Personally I wouldn't bother about speakers (and I'm a stickler for mods), what kind of speakers? They came with speakers in the parcel shelf as standard I believe...

What is the mileage allowance on your policy? Unless you work a long way from home or do alot of long journeys you are unlikely to do more than 8-10k a year.

18 with 0 no claims it will be expensive, but you seem to be almost overdeclaring and making it unnecessarily bad for yourself. Also, you only get no claims bonus by having 1 year continuous insurance I believe, you can't switch a part-year over?

There are no "really cheap" insurance companies, everyone's quote is different and depends on their circumstances: employment, car (obviously), age, location, etc etc etc etc. So comparing quotes is useless. If you want a long list of insurance companies who insure Minis there is a thread entitled "THE Insurance Thread" in the FAQ section. However it sounds to me like you may just need to calm down on the mods (whilst not underdeclaring).

One more thing, if your parents have clean licences have you tried adding them to your insurance as named drivers (with you as the policyholder)? I have had both of my parents insured on my car for the last 3 years, this year it saved me 20%.

It might work out cheaper in the long run on insurance to buy standard lights/ air filter maybe secondhand( check out the for sale section) and sell on your aftermarket ones via here or ebay.

I've a 1981 1000 Austin HL with Stage One Kit and my insurance is fully comp through Herts, with my wife as named driver, and its £267 a year !?!!

Ok,

Have decided to sell him :D

It will be too much to pay off the insurance and my loan at the same time, so the mini has to be sold.
Its a shame as hes a great car, and lovely to drive.

Ive put him on ebay, (sorry if im not allowed), here:
