Hi All,

My own rebuild project is spiralling out of control and I have now decided to take the plunge and go for FWD bike power. However I am wondering what other engines could be used apart from the all conquering R1. I have had sports bikes in the past, but to be honest I'm not a great Yamaha fan. I don't really have the ability to build my own conversion kit so I guess I'm limited to whats on offer from Pro-motive etc. I would love to try Triumph power as you can't beat the sound and grunt of a triple cylinder engine, but alas they are right down in the horsepower stakes, so I have realised jap power is the only way.

I was looking at bike engine specs, and the one engine which jumped out at me was the Kawasaki ZZR1200. In standard form its producing 160hp and more importantly in my view 121 ftlbs of torque, which is at least a third more torque than the R1. Because this particular bike is an old farts tourer the engines seem to go for peanuts compared to R1's. Surely the additional torque would make it slightly more user friendly in a car application.

Does anyone have anymore specific details on the ZZR engine, or has anyone actually used one in a car conversion???

I would love to hear, as this is an engine which potentially could be an even cheaper alternative than the R1 with a third more torque as well. - sounds good to me.

Cheers,

Jan
