Thanks for that Kam.
The reason for my first worry was the fact that it used to get hotter and hotter even when driving carefully and the only way it ever came down was the 2 mins that the fan came on then it just went back up again. Now I've fitted this extra rad it's a lot more behaved.
Tomorrows going to be the big test, as I'm going to bruntingthorpe proving ground for a minimag photo shoot. So if there's going to be any issues about my after Market mods then it's going to show up on the way.
I'm looking forward to getting some film of Richard longman driving my gt!

It had a v tec engine in the back I think. All info will be in next months mini mag.

Also glad to say that it was hottest day of the year and car ran at 88 degrees most of the day on the motorway and it was a 260 mile round trip! So I think I've cured the problem of my car running too hot and I'm a lot happier driving it along way now.

Where are you pulling the oil feed from the oil rad from?

I agree that a puller fan is best, I coudn't fit one though due to the front subframe support bars being too close to teh back side of the rad.

Here is my air box and oil rad. Temp keeps close to 100ºC on the track. As you can see, fan is located on the other side, sucking out instead of forcing to.
Next trackday on 4th july, 40ºC, will say if system works fine or not.

Hi mate
Sorry, I´ve been away for a couple of weeks.

Here you can see oil filter in different position to promotive´s kit. System uses the very own motorbike oil pump. The oil rad you see in picture it´s an aditional small water rad. The true oil rad is in the front. This weekend we were racing at ronda´s circuit at 42ºC!!!
Engine temp was ok enough, between 100-110º depending on lap speed. The fastest the hottest, but ok.

Hi there again.

I got some problems in Ascari´s track I´d liked to speak to.

This is an Ascari´s lap two weeks ago:

The track has two very strong chicanes with high kerbs, as you can see in the video how hard the impacts are. Those blows loosened tensioner sprocket arm and chain became loose at all, every two or three laps.
It was impossible to fix it and I´m trying to find a different way to anchor it tighter. Have anyone seen this before? Any tip or idea? Tensioner sprocket arm was firmly bolted following Promotive´s manual instructions.

I had some tensioner issues too where the chain would get slack and skip off the idler sprocket under certain on / off throttle conditions. I ended up doing away with the spring and am currently tensioning with spacers where the spring would normally go. 300+ miles so far with no issues and 2 full track days in those 300 miles...

Thanks mate. I´ll test it. Spring goes bad indeed. It´s my second one in 150 miles and it has been damage again.
Cheers

My tensioner is off line some what so I will have to fix that first. this has lead me to the question why cant we use a belt drive system? do you think the belt will snap under load? or on take off?

Dunno. I had same problem before and chain and sprocket were off in two laps.
Maybe Phil or Darren could answer us. An update would be welcome!

I like the idea of a belt drive personally, less messy for one - there would still be a tensioner needed though. The Reynard Inverter uses a belt with a 1 Liter M/C motor... haven't seen any pictures yet...

I have had a look around, and in the good old USA the Harleys have this system. Andrews make pulleys and belts would appear to be no problem, well you can even get poly v belt pulleys which last longer but can they take the power?
Back to the problem; is the front of the subframe moving under load so to allow the front pulley to move of line?

i just red this topic cause i noticed the other day that my r1 engine also has a high temp during some heavy driving.

my r1 engine is in the normal position, not reversed like promotive. I have installed the standaard radiator besides the engine were it gets wind through the grill.

now i wonder: someone proposed that adding a oilcooler to your system would help reducing the water temp. But doesnt this bring down also the oil temp, wich should be at a certain temp to work at its best?

Im going to try to fit a allu plate to force more air into the radiator and also cutting out a piece a-panel to also let the air out, think this will give a better flow.

Good idear?
