I did my IAM test, best thing that ever happened to my insurance... Then again I get automatic membership through work so I didn't have to pay full price, got it cheap :)

When i passed my test last year i phoned FJ for a quote £2000 fully comp for my mini with 1275 engine.

Adrian flux quoted the same for fully comp and £1100 TPFT. I chose that option.

This year i found a quote with someone from mini mag/world (cant remember which) for £700 fully comp, unlimited miles, breakdown, windscreen cover, key cover, hire car and all other bits.

My tip would be get married to a woman twice your age, then get the insurance in her name :) £102 a year :D

On a serious note though, didnt the IAM test get canned in favour of the PassPlus? Or am I mistaken?

I think the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) is still active, and PassPlus is for new drivers. Re marrrying a woman twice my age....unfortuneately she'd be more than likely dead at 113!!!!!! :(

haha !

i rang adrian flux and declared every single mod down to the last sticker. 3 a4 pages to be exact!
see how modded my car is on my project page

im 21 with a revoked licence 6 points and they quoted me 2160 a year 3rd party aha

try lancashire insurance (back of minimag/world
seems that if youve got a modified car you can just chose one of there guarenteed quotes and you dont have to give them hardy any information, not even if youve got points on your licence! wheres the cars kept etc

its very strange,iv never known an insurance quote like it.

going to try fj tommorow to see what they quote

Is it just me doing something wrong or what? as FJ won't give me a quote due to being 18 as they only insure 25-74 year olds. Any advice would be very useful as my cheapest quote is about £3500...

i recently renewed mine, didnt try fj went with a random 'green conpany' lol but my quote went down a bit when i added my girlfriend as a named provisional driver! thought that was a bit random as she hasn't even passed! but i guess its because it shares the responsability and they favour female drivers...

ok so i rang up footman james today for a quote as i couldnt do it online. They wouldnt touch me with a barge pole! said they do not insure drivers anymore who have increased their engine performance by 10% or more.

oh well Adrian flux £190 a month it is then!

might be worth trying Aviva. everyone was offering me £1300 a year. They offered me £968 with mods covered and payout of the value i paid on the mini (£4500)

Just wanted to check to see how much it would cost me with Footman James to get insurance for a 1978 Mini Clubman 1275gt that i want.

I am 32 and have been driving since i was 18.

I had a quote of £140.10 fully comp.

So i'm over the moon with that, and the Mini will be tax exempt due to it being over 25 years old.

footman james insures my 1996 as a classic car, because its a Mini! so im guessing the car being over 15 is for only online quotes, as well as the mods and age of drivers, as my car is modded and im only 20!
